On a Whim

My boss was gone for the last week. Luckily we had a few days off for Thanksgiving so I wasn't completely bored. She came back today and I was very nervous I would have forgotten something and would receive a chewing out. On the contrary, she said she felt confident having me in the office while she was out and I had accomplished all that I should have.

I had to sit through a long and boring orientation the other day. While I was sitting there thinking about everything but what the presenter was talking about, I realized something. I NEED to go back to school. I know, I just started work but it's time for me to be a student. So I'm applying to San Diego State's CBB program. I know, a lot of acronyms :) So that's consuming my time now and with the holidays upon us it's time to start my shopping.

I'm running a 5k tomorrow. Well, attempting to run the entire 5k. Hopefully my competitive spirit takes over and I have a really good time.

Thursday Night...

What a great title huh? I don't have anything to post about really. Work is eh, social like is non existing and I don't yet know where I'm gonna go to church. I need a hair cut and am tempted to go to Super Cuts because I don't know where else to go and I hate traffic. All in all, my move to San Diego has been fantastic. But really, it's great being with David, Mars and Maya.

Mmm...that's about it :)

The Long Weekend

It's a long weekend and I have no plans. I kinda like the fact that I have no plans. Marisela and I were talking about places in San Diego I've never been. It made me think, what the hell did I do those 4 years I lived here?

I ran 5K this morning, went to WW (or as I call it, Fattys Anonymous). Struggle. I had my car washed and the guys didn't do a very good job. I usually don't complain but I was in no mood for bad service. So I had them wash my windows again...and again. Why can't they just do it right the first time? Anyway, I listened to "Go" by Hanson over and over and that made me much happier.

I'm addicted to scrabble online. So fun, but don't play the computer. They come up with GRE words. I'm not about that :)

Paste

I found this new magazine today. Well, it's new to me but I don't know if it's new to the world. Anyway, it's kinda expensive ($6 an issue) but you get a CD with each issue. It kinda has the downlow on indie/new music but I had heard of some of the bands (many thanks Darin) so I bought the issue. I got home and checked out their website. They're doing a promo right now and you pay whatever you want for a year of issues. I paid $10 and I can't wait until next month.

On a music note, read this:

MMMmmbop

Do you remember Hanson? If you were around in the 90's I'm sure you remember MMMmmbop. You probably also think they were a one hit wonder. Those boys that sorta looked like girls with their long hair have grown into some pretty good lookin' guys and are unbelievably talented musicians. I've been a Hanson fan since the MMMmmbop days and I've never been ashamed to admit it. They're great and talented and they're doing music the way they want to do music. They've also become philanthropists, activists and businessmen. They have their own label now and are working hard to raise money for AIDS in Africa and shoes for the poor in Africa. I respect that, they're doing something about the need they see.

Why am I writing about Hanson? Well, I got to see them in concert for the first time last night. I went alone too. I thought, how lame am I? I'm going to see Hanson all alone. BUT, I'm so glad I did it and I'm still not ashamed to say I'm a Hanson fan and I went alone. If you haven't heard Hanson since MMMmmbop you should check them out. And every cent you pay for the download of their song "The Great Divide" goes to a hospital in South Africa trying to fight the spread of AIDS in their country. You should buy the entire CD though. You should also pick up Underneath. Simply amazing.
