Life in the real world

The job is okay. Not my favorite but that's why I'm going to school. So I can actually do the things I want to do. I'm just hoping I can make enough money to move out on my own.

Today I got called into jury duty. You know, if I had the time I would actually love to sit on a jury. But come on! The trial I would've been put on was going to be 2 weeks long. After just starting a new job I asked to be excused because of financial hardship and the judge let me go. He was a nice judge and I'm sad I had to leave the courtroom so quickly. I don't understand why they don't just let you go once you're excused from the courtroom. Why do I have to sit in this junky, uncomfortable room? At least they have wireless and I can update my blog :)

Like I said earlier, I got called into a courtroom this morning. As this all went down I had a lot of thoughts about the process. First of all, they call roll by name. Wouldn't you want people to remain nameless until the actual selection process was taking place? The judge read the charges out loud and I felt sick to my stomach. I couldn't even look at the defendant and thought, wow, I think I've already convicted him. It would've been interesting to sit on the case but emotionally draining so I'm glad I was excused. This guy had 3 charges against him and all involved lewd acts against a minor. I kind of felt sorry for the guy because he had to face all 60 of us (and many more after us) and hear these charges read over and over. I hope that he didn't do what he was being charged with but if he did, I hope he feels so ashamed and guilty for what he did. I don't know how I feel about those feelings either. Does that make sense?

Maybe someday when I'm old or at a job where they pay for jury duty I'll serve. It was definitely an eye opening day.

Wowsers!

I didn't realize it had been so long since my last post.

Life is a funny thing isn't it? So much of mine has been up in the air for months and I've been in this awkward transition period, only I didn't know what I was transitioning into. Things are starting to become solid again and that makes me feel a little settled.

In the past month I've taken more tests than I ever wanted to. Suffering from test anxiety isn't fun at all. I took the CBEST and await the results. I took the second and third rounds of test with the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. Those went well and I take the last test in April. I applied to grad school at Cal State Northridge (CSUN) for the Maters in Educational Counseling Program. I'm really stoked about that possibility and I'm taking a counseling class this semester too. I absolutely love school (I know, I'm a freak)! I started a new job today with Phones 4 Charity. I don't love it and that makes me wonder how long it'll last. I know, I haven't even given it a chance but really, I just want to be a full time student. Why can't I just find a man who wants to marry me and put me through school? I'm only half way joking.

So yeah, life is busy and great and on the up and up. I'll try to post more often...for that one of you that reads this still :)
